The National Independent Halaal Trust (NIHT) is an internationally accredited and recognised Halaal Certification Body which was founded as the Independent Halaal Trust (IHT) in 1992. The organization was formed by concerned Ulama (Muslim Scholars), Businessmen, and Muslim consumers who saw the need to establish an independent, professional, progressive, transparent, dynamic and contemporary Halaal Certifying Body that would rise above petty ideological and Islamic political differences.

The NIHT is now fully representative of Ulama (Islamic Scholars), academics, scientists, businessmen and Muslim consumers from across the Islamic ideological spectrum and since inception in October 2000 its growth has been phenomenal.

National Independent Halaal Trust (NIHT) provides Halaal Auditing and Certification Services to NIHT clients and members, as well as to other companies across the spectrum. The NIHT is dedicated to provide Muslim and Non-Muslim consumers with legitimate and authentic certified products.

The NIHT aspires to the highest Halaal standards as prescribed by the Sharia (Islamic Law), these standards have been set up by Mufti’s and various Ulema from across the Islamic ideological spectrum. Presently the NIHT has offices in Johannesburg, Durban and Cape Town and has logistical offices in the Eastern Cape and Northern Cape.
