KETO Fried Chicken Recipe
One of the best things about the ketogenic diet is the amazing food you get to eat. Keto is a high-fat diet, and fat is generally packed with flavor! However, there are times when you have to get creative if you want to recreate an ex-favorite food keto-style! One such food is KFC Kentucky Fried Chicken. When people start keto, sometimes they may go in search of the keto KFC replacement.
As you can see from the photo, these keto chicken tenders look incredibly like the real thing! But the similarity doesn’t end there! They taste absolutely amazing, and have a crunch to match!
Firstly, this recipe uses flavorless protein powder as a coating instead of almond flour. This allows you to fry the chicken instead of baking, as the protein powder goes crispy in the oil, where almond flour just absorbs the oil and goes soggy.
These keto tenders, however, are crispy, crunchy and full of flavor. If you are looking for a keto KFC fix, you have come to the right place!
1lb Chicken Breast
1 cup Whey Protein Isolate
1/4 Cup Heavy Cream to taste
Salt & Pepper to taste
1. Mix egg and heavy cream in flat bottom dish. Add salt and pepper. Add chicken tenders and let sit for 10 minutes.
2. Heat oil of choice (I used peanut) to 375°F
3. On plate pour some whey protein isolate and add creole seasoning as desired. Don’t add the full cup at once unless you want a clumpy mess.
4.Remove tenders from mixture and roll in whey protein powder until coated evenly throughout.
5.Fry in batches of 3 or 4, Make sure they are not touching each other, for 5 or so minutes or until cooked to at least 160°F.
6. Drain over paper towels and serve with ranch, blue cheese, sugar-free BBQ sauce or whatever else your heart desires.
